Because He Deeply Cares

“If a son asks for bread from any father among you, will he give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent instead of a fish? Or if he asks for an egg, will he offer him a scorpion? If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him!” (Luke 11:11-13).

It was a cold early morning. Perfect to start the day with hot coffee. That day, we spent the morning at our friends’ house to meet them before going to an appointment. Since I don’t want to use our friends’ real names, I will call them the Compassionate Family. They have five adopted kids and one biological daughter. They rescue kids from abusive situations and teach them self-defense. They have a very big heart for freedom that we can find in Christ.

Mrs. Compassionate is always the first one to wake up among the family. On this morning, while we were drinking coffee at their table, she was telling us about the fondness she has for each of their children. “You will see his little head popping out in a few minutes. He always wakes up around this time,” Mrs. Compassionate said with a trace of joy in her face and sparkle in her eyes while talking about their youngest boy. I saw and felt how she found pleasure in observing the behavior of each child. To me, it was an amazing thing to witness.

That scene reminded me of one of the truths from God’s holy word in the book of Luke 11:11-13. If our parents will do good things for us, how much more will our Heavenly Father?  I’m grateful to all the people and parents who try their best to extend the love of God. Though they are not perfect, the One whose love they are imitating is PERFECT.

To be part of God’s universal family is the best thing that ever happened to me. I don’t face trials alone anymore nor feel unwanted. He adopted and rescued me. He made a way to redeem us even to the extent of sacrificing His only begotten Son…all because He deeply cares. His care and love are vast beyond all measure. Beyond our imagination. No one can touch my heart as He does. I can search for all eternity and find none like Him.
